The world was under siege, and all life about to go extinct. We found a way to sustain life, at a cost. The Genesis Tree, a source of magic and power, held the key. We built a barrier around the tree and contained a moment of time within. This time loop held the siege within while life went on outside.  And it only required a sacrifice...
